Father Juan Miro was the first Recollect missionary assigned in 1856 until 1860 to sow the seed of the Catholic faith in Murcia. In 1860, Father Juan Miguel Alvarez, OAR founded the parish church of Murcia. Yhe parish administered the town proper and the barrio of Granada. By 1896, the interior missions of Kumaliskis and Alegria were created from its territory. 
Father Pedro Moreno administered Kumaliskis in 1895 until 1898. He served the barrios of Pandanon, San Miguel, Mambucal, Lumagtan, and Kumiliskis. Father Pedro Perez was in-charge of Alegria in 1985 until 1896 that took care of the barrios ogf Granada, Alegria, Cadmon, and Antolan.

When the Revolution broke out in 1898, Father Miguel Alvarez, parish priest from 1861 to 1898, remained unharmed by the revolutionist in his parish. He was one of the Recollect assigned in Negros who was spared from the untold sufferings and hardship injured by his confreres. 
The post-war Recollect parish priest who succeeded him were Pedro Moreno 1902-19, Isidro Equiza in 1919-25, Pedro Garcia De Galdiano in 1925-26, Luise Alvarez in 1926-32, Pedro Arostegui in 1932-35, and Julian Arzanegui 1935-37, Father Jacinto Alberdi was th last recollect parish priest assigned in 1938-1943. He started a construction of the stronger and bigger church, but the World War II War forced him to stop the construction. Father Salvador Gotera, a secular parish priest resumed the construction during his term. At present, the administration of the parish under the secular clergy.
